Choosing a nursing home is one of the most significant and emotional decisions a family will ever make. In Malaysia, the “Sandwich Generation”—adult children balancing careers, children, and aging parents—often faces a confusing landscape of care options.
"I Built This Because I Needed It Too"
I spend much of my time as a volunteer exploring ways to make life easier for our elders and their families here in Sarawak. I know that the search for the right care can be exhausting and confusing. Whether you are looking for a place for a parent or helping a relative, the “search hurdles”—the endless phone calls, the fragmented info, and the confusing terms—can be overwhelming.
I’ve stepped in as a dedicated researcher to bridge that gap. My goal is to gather the details you need so you can focus less on the “search” and more on spending quality time with your loved ones.
Why I Started This Project
Elder Care Together isn’t a big corporation or a medical agency. It is a volunteer-run mission. I realized that while many wonderful care centers exist in Kuching and beyond, finding them shouldn’t feel like a guessing game. I wanted to create a simple “compass” that points families in the right direction based on their actual needs.
What I Do as Your “Extra Pair of Eyes”:
The Detective Work: I spend hours organizing the clues found in public records, Google Maps, and community reviews so you don’t have to start from zero.
A Focus on Culture: I look for the things that make a place feel like “home” for us—whether it’s the language spoken (Hokkien, Mandarin, Iban, Malay, or English) or the type of food served.
Plain Language: I strip away the medical jargon. This directory uses simple tags to show you if a home is best for social companionship, daily help, or full-time nursing care.
I believe that by working together and sharing what we know, we can build a safer and more compassionate community for our seniors.
